Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) is a tough but fair presence on “Blue Bloods.” She has to be, seeing how she’s the assistant district attorney, tasked with ensuring criminals spend an appropriate amount of time behind bars for whatever crimes they commit. Unlike her brothers, who usually take to the streets to solve crimes, she spends most of her days in an office, but she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty when a case calls for it.
That’s why she carries a firearm on her person, and according to her father, Frank (Tom Selleck), she’s more adept with a gun than either Jamie (Will Estes) or Danny (Donnie Wahlberg). However, she still has a soft side to her, as evidenced when her daughter Nicky (Sami Gayle) left for San Francisco and was adamant she call her every other day. It wasn’t the only time Erin showed she could be sensitive, as there was another moment in the series that likely warmed every viewer’s heart.
Erin’s kiss to Frank is lovely to see
Season 1, Episode 15, “Dedication,” proved “Blue Bloods” could get deadly serious right from the beginning of its run. The episode begins with Frank exiting a restaurant and getting shot from an unknown assailant. He’s immediately rushed to the hospital, where the rest of the Reagans quickly make their way to check on him and make sure he’s all right. Fortunately, he survived the attack, and by the time everyone gets there, Frank’s awake and cognizant. He’s even cracking jokes, but that doesn’t make the incident any less scary.
It’s a small moment, but it does exemplify the loving relationship the Reagans all have with one another. When the Reagans go to meet Frank in his hospital room, Erin greets him with a kiss on the forehead. It’s a level of affection that typically isn’t shown in the stoic family.
To long-time viewers, it’s always been apparent that the Reagans care for each other. But it’s nice to see it manifest in different ways other than everyone meeting up for dinner on Sunday night.
