The turbulent relationship between Lucy Tara (Yasmine Al-Bustami) and Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson) was one of the most significant stories of “NCIS: Hawai’i” Season 2. Although the couple did split up halfway through Season 2 due to Lucy’s brief stint as a member of the NCIS’ Special Agent Afloat program, their tumultuous relationship may not have suffered any dramatic setbacks (especially since the pair appears to be completely, overwhelmingly obsessed with one another).
Lucy and Kate’s reunion later in the season was one of the most exciting moments of the entire series for fans online, and with Season 3 on the horizon, many of those same fans are already gearing up for more of the couple in the next chapter of “NCIS: Hawai’i.” “#Kacy will continue in season 3, omg i couldn’t be happier!” wrote @richellewho1 on Twitter. “More kate and lucy goodness in the horizon!” Others like @kidsfromfame said that they were hoping for every episode in Season 3 to feature the couple, and @whistlersarmy even posted a collage of memorable Kate and Lucy scenes from throughout this season, saying, “If Season 2 gave us all of this, can you imagine what Season 3 will be like? We get these Queens for another season. I- #NCISHawaii”
These fans certainly make it seem like the relationship between Kate and Lucy is the most important aspect of the entire show (for them, anyway) and it’s clear that they’re looking forward to many more loving moments between the two in the next season.
Despite the fans excitement, the pair could still break up before or during Season 3
Considering the immense online following that this particular couple has amassed through two seasons of television, it’s no wonder that fans are already itching for the next chapter in Lucy Tara and Kate Whistler’s relationship — even if there’s no real confirmation that their idyllic relationship will remain this way into the next season.
Indeed, all of the above tweets praising the “continuation” of Kate and Lucy’s relationship are referencing the renewal of “NCIS: Hawai’i” for a 3rd season, which occurred in February 2023 and made no mention of Lucy or Kate’s storyline moving forward. On top of that, there are still two more episodes left in Season 2 and plenty of time for yet another unexpected obstacle to separate the two apparent soulmates. The series has already gone out of its way to separate the pair once before, as the aforementioned “Agent Afloat” storyline forced Lucy off of Hawaii for a large chunk of Season 2 in order to appear in an “NCIS” crossover event.
Although it’s clear that a vast majority of fans are hoping to see Lucy and Kate take their relationship to the next level in Season 3, there’s no telling where the season finale might leave the internet’s favorite “NCIS” couple -– nor whether they’ll be together throughout all of Season 3 like these fans seem to believe.
