After becoming pregnant with her first child with her partner, Luke Broderick, Kristen Doute miscarried. The 40-year-old cast member of Vanderpump Rules, who started dating Luke in late 2022 following her breakup with Alex Menache, talked about the “f**king terrifying” loss, which occurred while she was six weeks pregnant, in her most recent podcast episode.

“The only reason I feel safe discussing this is since I know a lot of my friends have experienced it. According to Page Six, she stated, “I know so many women have been through this,” during the Sex, Love, and What Else Matters episode that aired on November 26.

According to Kristen, her pregnancy was not viable and an embryo never developed.

“You always think, ‘What’s wrong, what did I do wrong? Could I have done something different?’” she said. “And my doctor and my friends have told me, inside and out up and down, there’s no cause. They don’t know why.”

Last summer, Kristen thought about freezing her eggs, but she decided against it and didn’t look into any additional infertility treatments.

“At my age, things may have turned out differently, so we were quite fortunate. I have not frozen my eggs, I have not undergone IVF, and I have not done anything. She said, “I just think there’s something in God’s plan,” adding that she and Luke became pregnant “so quickly.”

“Now that we’ve been processing this for the past four or five days, the only bright side is that I know we can try again once Luke and I get past this,” she said. “We really hope that this will be a very healthy pregnancy for us next time.”

Also during the podcast episode, Luke, who co-hosts the show with Kristen, said the loss had been “hard” for them both and that it was difficult to talk publicly about the miscarriage.

Just last month, during another one of her podcast episodes, Kristen said that after visiting her doctor, she and Luke were determined to start a family.

“I did go to my OBGYN and we got all good news on that front,” she explained at that time. “So whenever we are ready to start trying, so far it looks good.”

Additionally, Kristen stated that she is not “going to worry about having a baby in 2023” because a psychic had already informed her that she will give birth to a male “somewhere between 41 and 42.”

In September, Kristen declared her intention to become a mother and father alongside Luke in an interview with The Messenger.

“I’m confident that we have a fantastic future filled with raising a few children, lots of love, and tons of awesome entrepreneurial ventures and businesses,” she joked.

Vanderpump Rules season 11 is set to premiere on Bravo in January 2024.
