NCIS star Michael Weatherly has teased an exciting update for his spin-off show Tony & Ziva.
The actor played Tony DiNozzo on the original procedural drama, before leaving in the season 13 finale. He later appeared in season 17, to reunite with his partner Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) who had previously been presumed dead.
Last year, it was announced that Tony and Ziva would be returning to our screens for their own spin-off series, set in France. The series sees the couple on the run across Europe after Tony’s security company is attacked.
In a recent social media post, Weatherly confirmed the imminent arrival of the new episodes, sharing that filming had wrapped last month.
“Ahhh… finally wrapping Season 1 of NCIS: Tony & Ziva… and feeling how much I love bath tubs,” he wrote on Twitter/X, alongside a picture of himself enjoying a soak.
The star then issued another update in the comment section, adding: “I’d say it’s trailer time relatively soon.” Fans quickly shared their excitement, with one replying: “Not to be dramatic here but this show will actually change lives.”
“Exciting times. We can’t wait to see the magic you’ve created,” another wrote, while a third echoed: “Can’t wait!!! Thank you & Cote! … Haven’t got season one yet and I already can’t wait for season 2! Lol.”
The spin-off will consist of ten episodes, which are expected to air on Paramount+ later this year. Viewers will get to see Tony and Ziva in their parental roles as they raise their daughter Tali (Isla Gie).
Meanwhile, Tony & Ziva will also welcome Downton Abbey star Julian Ovenden, Oppenheimer’s James D’Arcy, Shadow and Bone actor Amita Suman, The Watch’s Lara Rossi, Emily in Paris star Nassima Benchicou, Coronation Street’s Terence Maynard, and Ted Lasso actor Maximilian Osinski to its cast.
NCIS airs on CBS in the US. Seasons 1-20 are streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
