Freaky Friday 2 stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan teased The Acolyte star Manny Jacinto’s role in the highly-anticipated comedy sequel to the iconic 2003 movie. Production on the project is currently underway in Los Angeles.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Curtis confirmed that Jacinto will be playing the new love interest of Lohan’s character Anna. “Manny plays Lindsay’s husband, but that’s as much as we can say,” the Oscar winner revealed. Meanwhile, Lohan described The Good Place actor as “lovely, so funny.” At the end of Freaky Friday, Anna eventually started dating her long-time crush Jake, after successfully solving her body-switching mishap with her mother. With Jacinto’s addition as Anna’s husband in the sequel, this seemingly hints that Anna and Jake’s romance didn’t have a happy ending. Despite this, One Tree Hill vet Chad Michael Murray is still expected to reprise his role as Jake.

Jacinto most recently appeared in Lucasfilm’s latest Star Wars series, The Acolyte, where he delivered a memorable performance as Sith master Qimir. In a previous interview, Jacinto revealed that he had to train for nearly four months to prepare for his character’s major lightsaber battle. Before this, Jacinto first gained recognition for his leading role as Jason Mendoza in the NBC comedy The Good Place, which ran on-air from 2016-2020 for four seasons. The upcoming Freaky Friday sequel will serve as Jacinto’s first major movie project, following his supporting role in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick.
