Trouble is never too far from Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi in the Paramount+ crime series, Tulsa King. For all intents and purposes, since getting out of prison in Season 1, New York mafia capo, Dwight, has attracted trouble even when he doesn’t go looking for it. Despite his triumph over Neal McDonough’s Cal Thresher and Rich Ting’s Jackie Ming in Season 2, Dwight ended the season by being abducted from his bed in the middle of the night by unknown gunmen. Season 3 of Tulsa King is officially filming, and while there is no release date yet, the legendary star has taken to Instagram to share an image from the new season.

Season 2 of Tulsa King picked up right after Dwight’s arrest in Season 1, delving right back into the action as the General had his day in court. Season 3 looks set to continue in that vein, and launch its audience straight back into the action once more. Dwight h as, throughout his time being out of prison, had his back against the wall. But it seems that his latest situation might be his toughest yet. Tulsa King Season 3’s abduction storyline could see Dwight working for an individual with ties to the United States government and the FBI, as the precision of his abductors points towards government-backed entities. Dwight is not a man that does well while being someone else’s puppet, so a violent freedom fight might be on in Season 3.

Dwight’s Foes Will Only Multiply in ‘Tulsa King’ Season 3

Dwight’s enemies in Tulsa King have been numerous, and while some have been taken off the chess board, like Ting’s Jackie and New York’s Chickie (Domenick Lombardozzi). Others – like Kansas City boss, Bill Bevilaqua (Frank Grillo) and local would-be gangster, Cal Thresher – remain in play. While Thresher might have suffered a humiliating defeat to Dwight in Season 2, the local power broker has officially leveled up heading into the new season. McDonough confirmed to Collider that his character returns as the governor of Oklahoma in Season 3. Well, that certainly can’t be good news for Dwight and his crime family.

“David Glasser [executive producer] said, ‘Tell him your idea’. I said, ‘David, I’d like to come back as the governor next year.’ He thought about it and said, ‘That’s a good idea.’ …Then I get the call, ‘Okay, you’re back… You’ll start in two weeks.’ I read the script, and on the first page: Cal Thresher becoming governor of the great state of Oklahoma.”

A release date for the third season of Tulsa King hasn’t been set. Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Paramount+. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
