Star Trek: Prodigy fans launched another airplane asking Netflix to renew the beloved animated series for season 3. Thanks in large part to Star Trek: Prodigy’s dedicated fanbase, who rallied to save the show after it was canceled by Paramount+, Netflix became the new streaming home of Star Trek: Prodigy. All 40 episodes of Star Trek: Prodigy seasons 1 and 2 are now on Netflix, with season 2’s 20 episodes premiering all at once on July 1st. Last year, a fan-funded airplane organized by UK-based Star Trek: Prodigy fan Michelle Stokes (@megsmamma) is credited with helping convince Netflix to acquire Star Trek: Prodigy.

In hopes that Netflix will renew Star Trek: Prodigy for season 3, Michelle Stokes raised funds for a second airplane to fly over Netflix’s Los Angeles headquarters with a banner announcing: “RENEW STAR TREK: PRODIGY! GO FAST!” Today’s flight is the third attempt to launch the plane, after delays canceled the original planned date of Thursday, August 15th and the rescheduled date of Thursday, August 22nd. Why Netflix Must Renew Star Trek: Prodigy For Season 3

Prodigy is one of the best examples of Star Trek’s future

Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 was one of the best seasons of Star Trek ever produced. Tying together the epic scope of Star Trek: Prodigy season 1 and incorporating odes to the greater Star Trek multiverse, Prodigy season 2 progressed the young crew of the USS Protostar and their mentors, Admiral Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and Captain Chakotay (Robert Beltran) in emotionally satisfying ways. Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 ended with an inspirational setup for season 3, with the young crew of the newly launched USS Protostar bringing the light of Starfleet across the galaxy.

Star Trek: Prodigy exemplifies the future of Star Trek.

Paramount+ ending Star Trek: Lower Decks with season 5 also means the end of Star Trek’s animated series – unless Netflix renews Star Trek: Prodigy. Animated Star Trek like Prodigy and Lower Decks have delivered the purest and most innovative Star Trek of the current era. Though it would take a minimum of 2 years for creators Kevin and Dan Hageman and their creative team to produce more Star Trek: Prodigy, their mission to bring Star Trek’s optimistic values to a new and younger audience has only just begun. Star Trek: Prodigy exemplifies the future of Star Trek, and Netflix must help keep that future bright by greenlighting more Star Trek: Prodigy.
