Downtown Macon buzzes with excitement as CBS films “Tulsa King,” transforming local streets and attracting eager residents.

MACON, Ga. — Downtown Macon transformed into a Hollywood set Friday as crews filmed scenes for the CBS series ‘Tulsa King’ starring Sylvester Stallone.

Production crews began setting up around 10:30 a.m. at Fatty’s Pizza on the corner of Cherry and Second Street, with filming commencing approximately two hours later. The intersection was partially closed to accommodate the production.

While Stallone himself — best known for his iconic role in the ‘Rocky’ franchise — wasn’t spotted by eager onlookers, his stand-in was seen on set. Cast members were observed entering and exiting the pizza shop throughout the afternoon.

The filming attracted dozens of curious residents who lined the streets starting around 12:15 p.m., hoping to catch a glimpse of the action or perhaps the star himself.

“Hoping I see him. I doubt I will, but that would be fabulous,” said Doug Keene, who recently moved to Macon. “I love the Rocky movies, but I like him in a lot of other movies too. So absolutely, that’s part of the reason I wanted to walk by here.”

Keene, who relocated to Macon about a year ago, expressed enthusiasm about the city’s growing appeal to the entertainment industry.

“I think it’s fantastic. Part of what drew us to Macon was the excitement of downtown, the growth of downtown, things like this happening,” Keene said. “We traveled to New York and you see things like this, and it makes us so proud to be a part of Macon.”

Another group of women decided to visit the set after work.

“I know that’s pretty cool. As soon as I heard about it the other day, I started telling these girls, and so here we are,” said Tara Guidry.

The production created a buzz throughout the downtown area, with many residents expressing excitement about their city being featured in a major television series.

“I’m not used to being around this sort of atmosphere, so it’s fun,” one onlooker said. “It’s fun to come out and see this sort of thing happen around your community. I like it a lot.”

According to city spokesperson Chris Floore, the affected streets are scheduled to fully reopen by 9:00 p.m. Friday once filming concludes.
