A new Outlander teaser has revealed the official premiere date for season 7 part 2. The show, which is based on the series of novels of the same name by Diana Gabaldon, follows the sweeping love affair between Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe), a World War II nurse who is accidentally transported back in time. Ahead of Outlander season 8, which will end the show, season 7 part 2 will consist of the final eight episodes of the ongoing 16-episode season.

The end of the video also reveals that part 2 will officially return to the air on Friday, November 22.

The End Of Outlander Is Nigh

The Season 7 Part 2 Date Indicates When Season 8 Might Come

Now that the season 7 part 2 release date is known, one more piece of the puzzle has been added to determine when the final outing for the Outlander cast will premiere. Season 8 was renewed as the show’s final season in January 2023, so there has been a long wait for viewers to discover how the long-running romance will end. However, the time that this will potentially happen has now become much more clear, based on precedent. Below, see the premiere and finale dates of every season so far, as well as how long the hiatus was between seasons

In 2020, season 6 had production issues amid global COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns. This is what led season 7 to be given the largest episode order for the show since season 1, which may have been one reason that its release was split over the next two years. At the time of writing, it is unknown if season 8 will also be a split season, but it seems more likely to return to a regular episode order and release pattern given the precedent set by seasons 2 through 6 and the way they handled adapting the Outlander books.

Discounting the long pandemic-related delay, this makes the average hiatus between seasons roughly 11 months. Presuming that season 7 part 2 airs its eight episodes weekly, it should run its finale by January 10, 2025. Thus, it seems entirely likely that the final Outlander season will air by the end of that year, though its premiere could possibly be delayed into early 2026 depending on when production kicks off.
