Outlander viewers have pointed out a glaring plot hole with Claire Fraser’s three marriages after the historical fantasy drama was renewed for a seventh season

Fans of the historical fantasy series Outlander have uncovered a notable inconsistency in the show’s storyline.

In the seventh season of the Starz drama, Claire Fraser, played by Caitriona Balfe, walked down the aisle for the third time, this time hastily marrying Lord John Grey, portrayed by David Berry.

This unexpected union followed the presumed tragic death of her husband, Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan, during his perilous journey from Scotland to the New World.

Without Jamie’s protection, Claire faced the threat of hanging due to accusations of spying for the Continental Army, prompting her to accept Lord John’s proposal and exchange vows with him in Philadelphia.

The official Outlander Instagram account recently posted snippets from each of Claire’s three weddings, accompanied by the caption: “Three husbands for Claire was NOT on my bingo card. #Outlander.”, reports the Express.

However, fans were quick to point out a significant plot discrepancy in the comments section.

One viewer observed: “The woman who read palms spoke of 2 marriages for Claire,” prompting the Outlander account to humorously respond: “Mrs. Graham is SHOOK.”

Another fan added: “And “forked” for what was yet to come.”

A third fan offered an explanation, suggesting: “I think it’s because Jamie and Lord John are in the same time so since Jamie was still alive, Claire’s “marriage” to LJ didn’t actually count as a legally (or spiritually) binding marriage. I did think that was comical though poor Mrs. Graham [sic].”

Fans were reminiscing about the inaugural episode where Claire’s palm is read by Mrs Graham (Tracey Wilkinson), who points out her marriage line splits into two, suggesting two future nuptials.

However, this didn’t account for Claire’s third matrimony to Lord John, leading one viewer to ask: “I’m on S6 , what 3rd husband? Lord John? [sic].”

Another fan humorously remarked: “My favorite bigamist [sic].”

Other viewers noticed another significant detail in the wedding scenes. One commented: “Don’t get me wrong…Claire and Jamie is my favorite, but this just further kills me the way she treated Frank the only wedding she was truly happy for [sic].”

Another pointed out: “And ironically she didn’t look happy except at Fronk’s wedding [sic].”

A third fan gushed over her union with Jamie: “That scene when they meet outside the church is one of my very favourites for so many reasons.

“The look on his face when he sees his bride, the words he says when he greets her, the way he embraces her hand when he tells her his full name – all so beautifully done [sic].”

Another viewer noted: “Different woman in every marriage,a young girl with Frank …an strong ,fierce with Jamie a perfect match of course and finally a grieving widow completely lost an rather delusional with Lord Jonh Grey…Claire was really lucky [sic].”

In a parallel to her hasty marriage to Lord John, Claire found herself reluctantly wed to Jamie under duress, as he offered her safety through their matrimony, with the couple only developing deep feelings for each other later on.

On the other hand, Claire and Frank Randall’s (Tobias Menzies) wedding was a celebration of love following a conventional courtship and proposal.

Nevertheless, Jamie and Claire’s love story would go down in history as they braved war and endured a 20-year separation.
