Fans of the historical drama series Outlander praised the casting for the upcoming prequel spinoff, Outlander: Blood of My Blood. They expressed just how excited they are for the story’s return
Fans of the historical drama Outlander, based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series of the same name, are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the show’s final season and a spinoff series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood.
The prequel series, which is not based on any of the books, follows the parents of the original series’ protagonists, Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp. Claire, played by Caitríona Balfe, is a World War II nurse who is transported back in time to mid-18th-century Scotland, where she falls in love with Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan.
Vanity Fair released a first look at the new characters, and fans are raving about the casting choices.
Jamie’s parents in 19th-century Scotland are Brian Fraser, played by Jamie Roy, and Ellen MacKenzie, played by Harriet Slater. Claire’s parents in WWI are Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, played by Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine, respectively.
Fans of the series were delighted by the “fantastic” casting, noting how similar the parents look to their future children. One Redditor wrote, “Wow the casting is so good everyone actually looks like they could be the parents they’re supposed to be? I’m into it.”
“For a second I thought I was seeing Jamie and Brianna and not Brian and Ellen, that’s crazy! And [the] actress playing Julia/Claires mother looks so much like Caitriona as well, cast NAILED,” another added.
One fan praised the production team, writing, “The casting department and the costume department are hitting it out of the park, IMO,” while user echoed, “The people responsible for the casting are phenomenal! Both in Outlander and here. So good!”
Outlander is known for its steamy love scenes, especially between Claire and Jamie, which will not be in short supply for the spinoff series. Fans of the historical romance drama are expecting to see if the actors have chemistry on screen.
“They look so gorgeous, I am so excited,” one fan wrote. “Set in my calendar with three alarms..day of, day before, week before. Gotta prepare!,” another added.
The first season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood is slated to run for 10 episodes and will premiere on Starz on August 8, 2025.
Season 8 of Outlander, which will be the final season of the series, will premiere sometime in late 2025.
