Outlander season 7 ended with a huge twist when Claire discovered that Faith Fraser may have lived but fans are struggling to work out the logistics…
The eighth and final instalment of Outlander is set to unravel numerous mysteries, including the baffling survival of Faith Fraser.
In a shocking twist at the close of season 7, viewers watched in astonishment as Claire discovered that Faith, believed to be Fanny Pocock’s mother, may have actually lived, leaving audiences perplexed since Claire’s child was previously declared stillborn.
Some fans have speculated that Master Raymond might have used his mystical healing abilities, hinted at in the second season during Claire’s life-threatening miscarriage, to save Faith without returning her to Claire reports the Irish Star.
Additionally, season seven teased the possibility of Master Raymond’s intervention after Claire’s revealing dream. However, Screen Rant enthusiasts have proposed an alternative theory regarding Faith’s survival, suggesting it could be linked to Claire herself.
The season seven finale saw Claire grappling with the notion that her daughter Faith had somehow endured, suspecting that she is indeed Fanny’s mother, Faith Pocock, especially after Fanny sang “I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside”.
This revelation has led fans to believe that Claire will dedicate the show’s concluding season to uncovering the truth, potentially leading to the discovery that she herself, possessing a magical healing gift, may have been responsible for her daughter’s resurrection.
The theory suggests that Claire would need to travel back in time to France, heal her baby, and then stay to raise her. It’s already established in the series that Claire has the ability to time travel.
The show has also depicted Claire and Jamie leaving France without their daughter Faith, reinforcing the idea that the past is immutable. “Whenever characters in Outlander try to change the past, they only ever ensure it, creating a classic time-travel paradox. If Claire goes back and heals Faith, then it would ultimately be revealed that this is what happened all along,” the website explained regarding the theory.
Screen Rant proposed that Claire might bring Faith forward through the stones to 1779, which would be the “only” way to guarantee Faith’s safety and upbringing by her parents at Fraser’s Ridge.
Screen Rant further noted: “Interestingly, they will also be caring for Fanny, Faith’s daughter, who would be, for a time, older than her own mother. It would be a mind-bending paradox, but this is precisely the sort of thing that Outlander is known for.”
