Tulsa King will return under new management for the upcoming third season of the show, with a new showrunner, Dave Erickson, taking the reins to bring a continual level of gangster ease to the mob drama. Premiering in November 2022, the Paramount+ series is created by Taylor Sheridan and follows the journey of Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi, a New York mafia capo, exiled to Tulsa despite spending a long stint in prison to protect his crime family. Ahead of the highly anticipated third season, we have our first look at the General, and it would seem like he has returned to familiar territory in Season 3.

Erickson’s arrival as Tulsa King’s new showrunner should excite fans, as the showrunner has worked on a similar project, namely Paramount+’s Mayor of Kingstown. With production on the new season now underway, Stallone recently shared a new preview of Tulsa King season 3 on Instagram with the three-time Oscar nominee looking dashing as always. Cigar in hand, with a wel tailored suit on, Dwight poses in front of a storefront in New York City. Stallone’s caption of the image confirms that he was filming a scene in the Big Apple. However, the actor does not confirm exactly what brings the General to New York.

There are a couple of reasons which might bring the king of Tulsa to NYC. Top of the list might be to visit his daughter, Tina (Tatiana Zappardino), and his grandsons. While he and his daughter are no longer estranged, his activities endangering their lives in Season 2 surely strained the relationship somewhat. Second, mob business. With the Invernizzi crime family in New York under new management, with Vince (Vincent Piazza) taking over from Chickie (Domenick Lombardozzi) after his encounter with Kansas City. Dwight might be in New York to discuss some form of business with Vince.

What Does Season 3 of ‘Tulsa King’ Hold for Dwight Manfredi?

Created by Sheridan, Tulsa King in its record-breaking first season, saw Manfredi, cast out by the Invernizzi, arrive in Tulsa and build a criminal empire of his own. Season 2 saw his influence spread, drawing greedy overlords like Kansas City boss, Bill Bevilaqua (Frank Grillo), and local would-be gangster, Cal Thresher (Neal Mcdonough), into a fight. While Season 2 saw Dwight remove Cal, Chickie, and Rich Ting’s Jackie Ming, from the board, Bevilaqua remains a potential threat to Dwight’s enterprise.

Season 3 sees the introduction of even new villains. With Dwight trying to move his business to become legitimate in the third season, he would have to contend with the interesting addition of Robert Patrick and Beau Knapp to the cast. Patrick will play Jeremiah Dunmire, described as a powerful man in the liquor business. Knapp will play Jeremiah’s unpredictable son, Cole Dunmire. Returning for the third season alongside Stallone and Grillo will be Martin Starr, Jay Will, Annabella Sciorra, Garrett Hedlund, and Dana Delany.
