Only two episodes remain until Season 2 of NCIS: Sydney ends, and this time, the AFP and NCIS team will have to face their biggest adversary yet — Australian wildlife. This episode is the first half of the show’s Season finale, and unlike the previous episodes, this team is no longer in Sydney.

In the next episode, the NCIS/AFP team will fly to Darwin to investigate the death of a U.S. soldier, which occurred during a joint training exercise between U.S. and Australian troops. Unfortunately, due to the heat and weather, the military and our agents will succumb to “Mango Madness,” a colloquial term Australians use to describe erratic behavior during hot and tropical weather. In addition, since the investigation is no longer in the big city, they also have to face the wildlife, like crocodiles.

Episode 9 is the first half of the show’s season finale. It has already aired in Australia this week but will be released in the U.S. on April 25. Fortunately, Season 2 isn’t the show’s finale, as it was confirmed that Season 3 was greenlit, but it has yet to announce a release date.

What To Know About NCIS: Sydney Season 2 Before It’s Finale?

Before the show’s finale airs on CBS, here is a quick recap of what happened during Season 2 of NCIS: Sydney. The new season began, continuing where Season 1 left off. Sergeant JD Dempsey (Todd Lasance) called the number that Ana Niemus (Georgina Haig) gave him after saving his son, revealing that Richard Rankin (Lewis Fitz-Gerald) was not only involved in the previous season’s events but was forced to do so due to a pacemaker implanted in his chest, with a listening device attached.

So, in between the multiple murder investigations that the show provided, the team continues to investigate what happened to Rankin and find who the true mastermind is by encrypting files and ensuring that Rankin’s safety is secured by faking his death to the public and trying to heal him in a hidden and secure facility. Season 2 also focuses more on Bluebird Gleeson (Mavournee Hazel) as parts of her past are slowly revealed, hinting that she may not have had an easy life before joining NCIS. An example was admitting to Dr. Roy Penrose (William McInnes) that she didn’t know her real birthday.

What makes NCIS: Sydney Season 2 different from Season 1 is that, in addition to the murder mysteries, it tackles complex topics such as abuse, deepfakes, espionage, and human sex trafficking. In addition, it’s no longer just the relationship between Australia and the U.S.; other countries are also mentioned and somewhat involved in the show’s events.

NCIS: Sydney airs every Friday on CBS and can be streamed on Paramount+. The episode trailer is below.
