NCIS has featured a number of special guest stars in cameo roles over the years and one of them was none other than High School Musical actor Zac Efron
NCIS fans went into overdrive as they spotted Zac Efron making a cameo appearance in the show.

The popular CBS show has been on air for more than two decades and has featured plenty of famous faces over the years, including Millie Bobby Brown and Jamie Lee Curtis. But it’s Zac’s guest role which has fans talking.

The High School Musical star played teenager Daniel Austin back in 2006, with fans who are re-watching the show only just realizing who it is. Zac’s character was taken to NCIS headquarters for questioning after he and his friend got caught with a phone previously used by a kidnapping victim to call for help.

Viewers shared their shock on X after seeing Zac. “Zac Efron in this episode of NCIS,” one surprised fan wrote. Another questioned, “ZAC EFRON IN NCIS????”
A third person joked, “I’m watching ncis and zac efron just appears?????????????” Someone else gushed, “That moment you spot a baby face Zac Efron on an old episode of NCIS.”

“I still crack up about Zac Efron being on NCIS,” a fifth viewer posted. Zac’s NCIS episode premiered just three days before the debut of High School Musical.

In the episode, titled Deception, agents Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David quickly realized Daniel and his friend had nothing to do with the crime. Instead, they had been sold the phone by another boy.

The synopsis for the episode read, “A woman Naval Officer becomes abducted, and she calls NCIS on her cellphone; Gibbs and the gang investigate. She’s involved with both a movement of nuclear-fuel rods and an anti-pervert group. The team find her, and they solve the case.”

With fans reminiscing about past NCIS stars, one person they’re hoping will come back is Mark Harmon. The 73-year-old actor played special agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS for almost 20 years before leaving in 2021.

It’s rumored Mark is now “bored” of his retirement and is looking at returning to the NCIS universe. A source told Closer Weekly, “He finds working with his former colleagues a lot more stimulating than staying home with a list of repairs to be done. It seems his retirement plans have changed, and he wants to do more cameos on NCIS, in addition to the narration he does.”

They added, “Plus, he’s looking for other acting and producing work.” Mark is a producer on the spinoff show NCIS: Origins and even narrates the series.
