Whether it’s about the spinoff or not, there was no way for him to avoid coming around in any case.
CBS’ long-running police procedural franchise NCIS keeps expanding its universe, but it’s not only more spinoffs that we can talk about here. Ahead of its brand new shows, NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Tony & Ziva, premiere later this year, the franchise had another surprise in store for its fans, introducing a podcast program hosted by NCIS: Tony & Ziva stars, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo.
Now that the new installment had immense success letting both show lovers and actors dive deeper into NCIS’ most memorable moments, there’s one actor whose potential visit to the podcast sometime in the future is expected more than anything else, especially since he’s also set to show up in NCIS: Origins.
Launched back in May, Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch came as a breath of fresh air for the whole franchise before it will kick off the next TV season with other all-new shows the perspective of which is nothing like what the original series’ fans have previously seen.
With Weatherly and de Pablo as its irreplaceable hosts, the podcast aims at reuniting the actors with their former co-stars or just those who were involved in NCIS’ creation at some point, thus sparking a sweet nostalgia feeling and letting both listeners and guests relive the show’s pivotal moments.
The program has already featured NCIS’ major actors like Sasha Alexander, Rudolf Martin, Sean Murray and more recently Brian Dietzen, though fans wouldn’t be deluded either while waiting for another big figure to drop by.
It surely won’t take much time for Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch to bring Mark Harmon for a highly anticipated talk about his Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ path in the original show and the upcoming spinoff NCIS: Origins.
Even after leaving NCIS in season 19, Gibbs remains one of the most influential and compelling characters of the whole franchise, and his story won’t be left aside at least until next year.
Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo’s podcast certainly has no desire to miss an opportunity, since Mark Harmon will soon be returning to the NCISverse as NCIS: Origins’ narrator, yet the actor would have no other choice anyway, considering how much he’s been missed since his departure from the flagship show.
