NCIS was renewed for season 23 earlier this year after the major cliffhanger with Alden Parker.
NCIS will be back for season 23 but there’s going to be a major shake-up when the drama does return.
CBS confirmed the mothership police procedural would be back for another outing in February 2025 with series 23 set to debut as part of the network’s fall season.
Since 2021, NCIS has been airing on Monday nights after it had been airing on Tuesdays since the iconic drama first premiered back in 2003.
But NCIS is about to undergo a major shake-up when it does return for season 23 as the show returns to its roots.
CBS will be making the switch back, with NCIS leaving Mondays to once again air in its original Tuesday night timeslot.
What’s even more exciting is that when NCIS does return, CBS will be blocking out its Tuesday nights for the entire franchise.
NCIS season 23 and its prequel NCIS Origins season two are going to be switching from Monday to Tuesday nights, as well as NCIS Sydney changing over from Friday for its third series.
So far, there has been no word on when to expect the three NCIS shows to start but going by previous release dates, it’s likely to be sometime in September or October.
When NCIS season 23’s premiere episode does air, there will be plenty to unpack following the series 22 finale.
The end of NCIS season 22 saw the team discover that the head of the Nexus organization, nicknamed The Butcher, was actually just an AI construct.
In reality, it was Kansas City mob boss Carla Marino (Rebecca De Mornay) who was its leader and murdered Alden Parker’s (played by Gary Cole) dad Roman Parker.
It was also discovered that Gabriel LaRoche (Seamus Dever) was a double agent and so he was forced to resign from NCIS.
