NCIS: Origins, the upcoming CBS prequel series to the long-running crime drama, is set to follow a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs in his early days as a Special Agent
NCIS: Origins has given fans a sneak peek at the main cast of the CBS prequel series, set to hit screens this October.
The latest addition to the thrilling crime-solving franchise sees Austin Stowell stepping into the shoes of the legendary Leroy Jethro Gibbs (originally played by Mark Harmon), portraying the future Special Agent in Charge during his early years.
Origins takes us back to the 1990s, tracing Gibbs’ initial journey in the NCIS, then known as the NIS, at Camp Pendleton.
This time around, there are no fancy gadgets to assist the team, with recently released photos from the set highlighting the show’s vintage vibe – including just one computer.
Gibbs won’t be embarking on his journey to becoming an NCIS legend alone, as Kyle Schmid will join him as the famed agent Mike Franks, acting as his mentor, reports the Express.
The rest of his squad is now finally coming together, as eager fans have been treated to new portraits of the main cast.
They include Promised Land star Mariel Molino as Special Agent Lala Dominguez, a former Marine who’ll be working closely with Gibbs throughout the series.
Also joining the squad is The Blacklist’s Diany Rodriguez as Special Agent Vera Strickland, a character who first appeared in season 11 of the original NCIS show, portrayed by Roma Maffia.
The Chi’s Tyla Abercrumbie is set to take on the role of the “mama bear” Field Operation Support Officer Mary Jo Hayes, who’s shaking things up at the NIS office by declaring herself Head Secretary in Charge.

Caleb Foote steps into the shoes of Special Agent Benjamin ‘Randy’ Randolf, the “golden boy” tasked with guiding Gibbs in the show’s opening episodes.
The cast, now fully unveiled, strikes a pose in their ’90s best, showcasing an array of chic and sometimes debatable fashion choices from the era.
Yet, the lineup still holds some surprises with more familiar faces to come.
Joining the ensemble are Hollywood’s Lori Petty and Bobby Moynihan, taking on roles as an assistant medical examiner and a forensic analyst, respectively.
Additionally, Daniel Bellomy and Julian Black Antelope join the fray as probationary agent Granville ‘Granny’ Dawson and Chief Medical Examiner Kai Blackrock, while Patrick Fischler takes the helm of the task force as Special Agent in Charge Cliff Walker.
And rounding off the cast, Robert Taylor will step into the role of Gibbs’ father, Jackson Gibbs.
NCIS: Origins premieres Monday, October 14 on CBS. NCIS is available to stream on Disney+.
