Some episodes in a TV show stick out to viewers or actors and Monday’s episode of NCIS: Origins is one such episode for series star Austin Stowell. The actor spoke to TV Line about the episode that finds the team heading down to Mexico to find a missing girl. NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 9, “Vivo o Muerto,” becomes personal for Gibbs when he goes to the country where the man suspected of murdering his family is hiding out. Meanwhile, the case puts Lala in a tough place when she goes undercover, and Gibbs must ensure her safety. ” “It’s going to be really, really powerful,” Stowell said of the December 9 episode. He teased some significant developments in the episode, saying,

“There are events within that episode that mean a great deal to the fan base, I hope, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing their reaction to them.”

‘NCIS: Origins’ Develops Gibbs’ Relationships in Season 1

The current season has mainly been about Gibbs’ relationships. Those he lost with his family’s death and those he is gaining in NIS. It’s been revealed that this prequel is largely about a story Gibbs never told regarding him and Lala. “The story [Gibbs is telling] is largely about Lala,” executive producer David J. North previously told TV Line. The promo video for “Vivo o Muerto” teases this relationship as Gibbs refuses to let his finger off the trigger of his sniper rifle when Lala is playing an undercover role. He ignores Franks’ orders, teasing something deeper in his dynamics with Lala. Meanwhile, the show aims to develop Franks and Gibbs’s connection, something series star Kyle Schmid teased, saying,

“We are always going to develop the relationship between probie and Franks. I mean, that is going to be a big catalyst for our storyline moving forward. And I think it’s because Mike has such a big hand in helping Gibbs become the man that he is, that the world knows in NCIS.”

Mexico will put Gibbs in a different headspace, and it will be interesting to see how he reacts to the emotional overload that will undoubtedly hit him as everything he’s been holding in comes out. Tune in to CBS on Monday, December 9, at 10 p.m. to watch “Vivo o Muerto” and learn what happens.
