NCIS icon Michael Weatherly has finally given an important update on the progress of NCIS: Tony and Ziva.
Tony DiNizzo (played by Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David’s (Cote de Pablo) ongoing flirtationship played an integral role in making NCIS into a global hit in the early days of the CBS drama.
But fans have always felt that they wanted to see more of them after it was discovered that they had slept together before Ziva left for Israel and had their daughter Tali.
When it came out that Ziva hadn’t been killed in season 17, she ventured to Paris to join Tony and Tali, starting a new life together and the Paramount+ show NCIS Tony and Ziva is expected to give fans the onscreen reunion they have been waiting years for.
Viewers have been drip fed key details of what’s to come in the spin-off and now Weatherly has shared an important update.
Earlier this week, the 56-year-old actor took to X, formerly Twitter, to post a selfie of him in the bath but it was the caption which really caught fans’ attention.
He wrote: “Ahhh… finally wrapping Season 1 of NCIS: Tony & Ziva… and feeling how much I love bathtubs.”
Sharing their excitement in the comments section, a follower penned: “Finally! The very special agent Tony and Ziva are back!”
A second echoed this sentiment: “Congrats on wrapping the best TV show of 2025…Can’t wait to see what you guys made!”
“This going be Awesome! Can’t wait! Tony and Ziva are incredible together,” someone else said, while another added: “I’m so excited to see what happens next with them.
“There are so many questions … Thank you so much for bringing them back.”
Even though an official release date hasn’t been announced just yet, it is expected that the 10-episode drama will premiere later this year.
It has already been teased, however, that the show will see Tony and Ziva raising their daughter Tali in Paris when his security company is attacked and they must go on the run across Europe.
Going by the synopsis, things aren’t exactly going well between the former agents when this occurs.
The description adds that they might need to “learn to trust each other again so that they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after” but what made Tony and Ziva drift apart?
Some of their other co-stars have also been announced including Downton Abbey star Julian Ovenden playing secretary general of Interpol, Jonah, Shadow and Bone’s Amita Suman as chief technical officer Claudette, Foundation actress Isla Gie as Tali and The Watch actress Lara Rossi as Tali’s caretaker.
