Fans have been left devastated following the news both NCIS and NCIS: Origins will soon be taking six weeks off for a hiatus.
The two shows won’t be airing new episodes between December and January and viewers have taken to social media to share their anger. “WDYM I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL JANUARY 27TH FOR NCIS 28TH FOR THE FBIS AND THE 31ST FOR NCIS SYDNEY, FIRE COUNTRY AND SWAT I’M SO SAD,” one person posted on X.
Another confused fan wrote, “Saw a still from tonight’s NCIS and because I was scrolling fast I had to go back and be like ‘WHY IS MARISKA- oh wait that’s not Mariska.’ happy week one of hiatus! This might happen a bit.”
Someone else explained, “In a move to reduce the amount of reruns, NCIS and NCIS Origins will be on hiatus after their Christmas episodes until Jan 27.”
Both NCIS and NCIS: Origins will air new episodes each Monday until December 16. Both shows will then take a short break before returning with new episodes on January 27.
It’s common for TV shows to take time off during the festive season. Over on ABC, TV shows are often on hiatus for around four months during the winter holidays.
The break comes after fans of NCIS: Origins were recently given exciting news as the program was given a full season order at CBS alongside the comedy Poppa’s House, according to Variety. Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, told the publication, “These shows fit seamlessly into our Monday night lineup while resonating with viewers on CBS and Paramount+.”
A third excited fan posted, “AMAZING news! I’m loving this show a lot. It’s the best show of the new season. Character driven and full of interesting back stories and a very talented cast. It truly feels like a cable series. Very strong writing and acting in all aspects.”
