Fire Country is officially expanding with a brand-new spinoff, and who better to talk about the future of the franchise than Max Thieriot?
The actor stars as Bode Leone on the hit CBS drama (now airing season 3), but he also is an executive producer and co-creator of the show. That means he has a clue about what’s happening with the world of Fire Country, including the fact the spinoff series Sheriff Country is set to air on TV sometime during the 2025-2026 season. What’s more, folks already saw one of the characters set to star earlier this year, when Morena Baccarin guest starred as Sheriff Mickey Fox in a Fire Country season 2 episode.
Now, Max is sharing his feelings on the show turning into a TV franchise, including what’s to come in the new TV series. As he shared with Us Weekly on October 19, he’s thrilled by how Sheriff Country is coming along in the early stages.
“I’m really excited about it. I can tell you that personally that I’m really proud of what we’ve done so far,” he shared with the outlet. “I’m only getting bits and pieces of where [the writers’ room] is at right now in the season 1 conversation. But I can tell you that what I’ve seen and what I know and have been a part of is very exciting.”
Well, this is definitely something to be intrigued about! And that’s not all Max had to say on the subject. When talking about how Sheriff Country will differ from Fire Country, the actor explained that both shows will be based in the fictional Edgewater, California. But unlike Fire Country, its spinoff will feature a new set of people that may not be seen in the original series.
“We get to see a different part of Edgewater and get to meet different characters who live in this town and this community that we wouldn’t normally meet,” Max added. “Just getting to see a different side of the town is going to be really fun. It’s going to give us a more complete understanding of this community and this town and these people. I just think it’s going to make the world feel more whole in a weird way.”
While it’s still going to be a while before Sheriff Country hits the small screen, this is something to ponder! And if that wasn’t enough, it looks like another spinoff may be in the mix, with Jared Padalecki making his mark on Fire Country later on in season 3. According to Deadline, should his turn on the show do well, there may be a chance for him to have his own show surrounding his character, SoCal firefighter Camden.
