The first season of this hit NCIS prequel series ends in a few days, and fans may get some much-needed answers at last. Even so, the NCIS: Origins finale will unsurprisingly not have a straightforward ending as series star Mariel Molino, who portrays Agent Lala Dominguez, has teased a “huge” cliffhanger that will change everything and everyone. The final episode arrives next Monday on CBS, and in it, when the murder of Pedro Hernandez is unearthed, Gibbs (Austin Stowell) faces retribution while one of his teammates’ loyalty is questioned when he needs them most.

Speaking with TV Insider about the upcoming and highly anticipated episode, Molino teased “a big question” coming up about her character that will greatly influence every part of the finale. She also spoke of a scene in the final minutes of the NCIS: Origins finale, which was the “most challenging” she has ever done as an actor.

“There’s a big question about Lala that will change everything and everyone and the team. There’s a scene at the end of the episode which was one of the most challenging things that I’ve done as an actor physically. It’s nighttime. Stunts were involved. So many different departments had to be so cohesive to pull it off. I wanted to make sure that I executed properly — because of the story and to get the shot the director wanted. That was one of the most surreal and scary experiences that I’ve had as an actor, which will make for a very exciting finale.”

The ‘NCIS: Origins’ Season 1 Finale Will Bring Lala & Gibbs Closer

Fans have already seen Gibbs reveal his vulnerable side to Lala earlier in the police procedural, but in the finale, things will go the other way around, according to Molino. The actress teased that Gibbs will catch her character in a “very vulnerable moment” and the duo will get even closer, with Lala surrendering to her feelings for her fellow agent, whom she has loved for quite some time.

“In the finale, Gibbs catches Lala in a very vulnerable moment, something that she does to disconnect from the world. Everything that Lala has done thus far to put her walls up to remain professional shatters. We see her surrender to feelings she’s had since he came onto the team. For a split second, there’s a beautiful fairytale of what these two could be.

The NCIS: Origins Season 1 finale arrives on Monday, April 28. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
