NCIS season 22 has introduced a major problem for Jessica Knight by setting up Nick Torres and her sister, Robin Knight, but her biggest challenge is something else entirely. NCIS season 22 first hinted at a potential connection between Torres and Robin near the middle of the season when he began hinting that he had started seeing someone. While Jessica was wary about the relationship at first as a result of the characters’ differing personalities, it seems as though she might change her mind soon.
While Knight’s personal feelings towards Torres and Robin’s relationship may seem like the biggest challenge of the season, the real challenge has to do with herself. As Knight has had a stressful turn of events from NCIS season 21 to NCIS season 22 with her career changes and breakup with Jimmy Palmer, these changes have been reflected in her reaction to ongoing events. As a result, Knight may need to look inward to deal with her biggest challenge yet.
Knight Needs To Learn To Let Go In NCIS Season 22
Knight Likes To Offer Analytical Solutions
Throughout her stint with MCRT, it has been established that Jessica is a very analytical and straightforward person. This helps her connect with others and solve her cases quickly and efficiently, but it causes her issues in her personal relationships. Jessica needs to learn to let things go and accept some things as they happen. Trying to solve everything herself acts as a barrier to her friendships. These issues can present themselves during vulnerable conversations with her loved ones, as seen in some private moments between her and Palmer and her and Robin.
Jessica’s inability to let go was even noticed by Robin in NCIS season 22, episode 11, “For Better or Worse.” When Jessica and Robin finally take a moment to talk about the relationship, the older Knight sister says she thinks the relationship is a bad idea. Before she could continue, Robin cuts her sister and tells her: “You’re trying to parent me again.” Jessica has her reasons for thinking Torres and Robin are a bad match, but the pair are happy together. Jessica trying to keep everything analytical and logical will just end up hurting her relationships with Torres and Robin.
Knight’s New Mindset Could Be The Key To Her Happiness
Learning To Let Go Could Bring Knight Peace
Jessica is always worrying about others. She is concerned about her sister’s happiness and now about Torres’ and she worries about any potential fallout that might occur if the pair break up. She also has to be vigilant as part of her job as an NCIS agent. Learning to let go could then be the key to her happiness. Jessica could ease her worries by accepting that some things are allowed to occur organically instead of trying to think of a solution to solve everything. This could help her personally as well as improve her relationships at work.
From Jessica’s perspective, she and her sister are polar opposites, which is likely why she feels a sense of responsibility to try and encourage Robin to make choices that resemble hers.
Learning to let go could also improve her relationships with her family. She and Robin had a rocky start before they reconnected in NCIS season 20, episode 8, “Turkey Trot,” but have since grown closer behind the scenes. From Jessica’s perspective, she and her sister are polar opposites, which is likely why she feels a sense of responsibility to try and encourage Robin to make choices that resemble hers. However, Robin is her own person, and, as she pointed out in “For Better Or Worse,” she deserves to make her own choices.
Knight Letting Go Could Bring Her And Palmer Back Together
The Pair Still Have Feelings For Each Other
Jessica Knight and Jimmy Palmer had a stable and loving relationship until they broke up sometime after the NCIS season 21 finale, when she left to pursue her dream job with REACT in California. However, when Jessica came back to NCIS in season 22, having left her job to return to the team, she and Palmer remained broken up. The breakup may have been logical at the moment, as neither one wanted to try to do long distance, but Jessica and Palmer’s remaining feelings seem to reveal the breakup was a mistake.
They have both tried to move on, but their feelings show that they still care for each other deeply. If Jessica learned to let go, rather than try to stay true to their plan to stay broken up, maybe the couple could find their way back together. She and Palmer could give in to their feelings and set aside the logical and illogical notions that caused Jessica and Palmer’s breakup in the first place. From the latest NCIS season 22 episodes, Knight and Palmer seem close to a reunion, they just need that extra push to go through with it.
