Sophea Pennington and Ryan Bown are the newest arrivals to cause some drama in Summer Bay this year.
Home and Away is back on our screens and while the 2025 season has barely begun, the show has already officially announced two brand-new faces that will be descending into Summer Bay. Actors Sophea Pennington and Ryan Bown are the newest arrivals to hit the Bay early this year, with the show teasingly adding, “Are you ready for the drama?”
What do we know about the new Home and Away stars?
Sophea was rumoured to be joining the Bay last year as a potential new River Girl named Lacey, so we can only assume she’ll have quite a few dramatic storylines up her sleeve.
Less is known about Ryan’s character, though one eagle-eyed fan questioned if he was, in fact, the anaesthetist having words with Dr Levi Fowler in last night’s tense premiere, as the two argued over the best way to proceed with Harper’s life-saving surgery for her baby.
Ryan has previously appeared on one Home and Away episode before in 2018, and also has appeared in Everything I Know About Love, The Strangers: Chapter 1, Deep Water, and Lambs of God.
Sophea has previously starred in The Deb, Roast Night, and How To Become A Female Billionaire.
Fans react to new Summer Bay cast members
Fans and Home and Away stars past and current are thrilled to see some new faces in the Bay.
“Can The Bay get any better looking?” Tristan Gorey, who plays Levi, commented, with Matt Evans (Theo) saying, “The best!”
“Congrats legends, all the best in the Bay,” former Home and Away star Lincoln Lewis said.
“Hotties per usual,” one fan commented (it is basically impossible to cast a bad looking person in the Bay after all). “I always look forward to newcomers, but with trepidation as to what lies ahead,” another person said.
“Insanely good casting!!” someone else commented.
Some fans had feedback for the show though after the introduction of the newbies.
“Reopen Summer Bay High!! Get the school kids & teachers’ lives back in action!!” one person demanded., with another agreeing, “Can’t wait. Would really love to see the high school and students back on the screen.”
“What are the chances we can start seeing people of all shapes and sizes in the show?” another asked, with another fan commenting underneath, “And also representing modern Aus, the casting is so 80s.”
