Outlander fans have been left chomping at the bit for the release of spin-off series Blood Of My Blood after teaser images of the leading characters were shared on social media
Outlander fans have branded the casting of new spin-off series Blood Of My Blood ‘perfect.’
The new Starz spin-off will follow the parents of Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) across two timelines before their time-travelling escapades kicked off. Fans were treated to a sneak peak at the cast of the upcoming series uploaded an Instagram post which shared several images of the new cast with fans.
The newly released character posters feature Jamie Roy and Harriet Slater as Jamie’s parents, Brian Fraser and Scots Ellen MacKenzie, and Jeremy Irvine and Hermione Corfield as Claire’s parents, Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moriston. Fans have also seen a teaser trailer for the series land this week ahead of a slated release for the show over the summer.
The post was captioned: “Every one of these #BloodOfMyBlood characters is already carved on my heart.” Meanwhile, the official synopsis says: “The series will center on these two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie’s parents in the early 18th-century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s parents in WWI England.”
The ensemble also includes Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, and Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie. Fans were excited to see this preview of the prequel, noting the resemblance between the new actors and their fictional children.
One fan exclaimed: “Holy c— they cast Brian perfectly!” A second shared: “No matter how many times I see it, casting Hermione as Claire’s mum is a freaking FANTASTIC choice.’
A third wrote: “Cannot wait for this! Casting is outstanding. @jamie.roy_ as Jamie’s Dad is literal perfection.” A fourth social media user added: “This casting is so spot on I am already absolutely buzzing for this and to see Jamie and Claire’s folks story.”
A fifth said: “I’m so excited for Blood of my Blood! The whole cast is perfect!” Fans of the show can expect an array of additional Outlander material on the horizon over the coming year, with the original show’s troupe recently wrapping up production on the eighth and conclusive season of the beloved historical fiction series.
Sam Heughan recently shared his thoughts on filming the eighth and final season of the hit Starz series. The 44 year old actor was in attendance at a screening for his sultry Starz thriller, The Couple Next Door, when host Josh Horowitz from the Happy Sad Confused podcast inquired about Outlander, reports the Scottish Daily Express.
He said: “I mean, look the whole of last year actually was very emotional. It was a very difficult one. I know why because we knew it was coming. Some days it just felt like another day on set. It was like, ‘Oh, this is what we’ve done for the last 11 years.'”
“And then other days you’re like, ‘This is the last time I will ever put on this garter or boot, or whatever it was.’ So it was like, ‘This is the last time I’ll be with this person.'”.
He concluded by mentioning the numerous goodbyes and the emotional weight of the final day: “And there were a lot of goodbyes and the last day was very emotional.”
