Outlander’s official Instagram account has shared a first look at the main cast of upcoming prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

Outlander’s official Instagram account has unveiled a sneak peek at the main cast of the forthcoming prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

However, fans have pointed out one glaring issue in the comments section.

The Starz spin-off will delve into the lives of Claire (portrayed by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) parents across two timelines before their time-travelling escapades kicked off.

The new character posters feature Jamie Roy and Harriet Slater as Jamie’s parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, and Jeremy Irvine and Hermione Corfield as Claire’s parents, Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moriston.

The ensemble also includes Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, and SeĢamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie.

Fans were ecstatic to get this tantalising glimpse of the upcoming prequel, noting the striking resemblance between the newcomers and their fictional children in the comments.

One ardent Outlander fan exclaimed: “Holy c*** they cast Brian perfectly!” Another added: “I still get shocked of the resemble of Hermione and Cait.”

A third chimed in with: “Cannot wait for this! Casting is outstanding.”

Despite the palpable excitement among fans, some comments highlighted their major bone of contention.

The eagerly awaited series premiere of Blood of My Blood, currently earmarked for release in summer 2025, has Outlander enthusiasts chomping at the bit for an exact date to circle on their calendars.

“Me: patiently waiting for a trailer and a date… I can’t wait to see this prequel,” one eager fan commented online.

Another excited viewer exclaimed: “I can’t wait for this prequel show to start – omg anxiously awaiting @outlander_starz.”

And one particularly impatient devotee posted: “I need a date for this nowwwwwww.”

Despite the fans’ impatience, the inaugural episode of this thrilling new instalment in the Outlander saga is set to hit screens in mere months.

Moreover, there’s an abundance of Outlander material on the horizon, as the crew of the original series wraps up production on its final, eighth season.

Scottish sensation Heughan has openly expressed being “very emotional” following his last ADR session.

Outlander is streaming on MGM+ via Prime Video now.
