Elias Voit’S Fate After Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2’S Ending Confirmed By Showrunner

Showrunner Erica Messer reveals what really happened to Elias Voit after the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 cliffhanger finale. After countless deaths, a couple of abductions, and months of tracking down Gold Star, the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) was finally able to get to the bottom of the mystery. The head member of Gold Star was Deputy Director Bailey’s brother, Pete, who was also used by Elias Voit to advance his own agenda. Taking down Gold Star, however, isn’t the end of Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2, as the finale closes out with Voit being repeatedly stabbed in prison.

Speaking to The Wrap, Messer officially confirms that Voit survived the attack and is slated to return in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3. Unfortunately, she doesn’t offer any additional explanation as to why Sicarius was stabbed in prison, or who may have ordered the hit. The important thing is that he will live and continue to terrorize the BAU. Read her full quote below:

We thought we were going to be done creatively with Elias Voit at the end of the first season, sure. And then we weren’t. Then we thought the end of this season we’d be done with him, and it turns out we’re not. So, you will see him next year.

How Voit Can Survive His Prison Attack Criminal Minds: Evolution

It May Be All Part Of Sicarius’ Plan

Voit’s tag scene in the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale happened separately from what was taking place at Penelope Garcia’s apartment. After Emily Prentiss’ talk with the conniving FBI Director Ray Madison, she finally joined her team for a post-case celebration. It wrapped up the season nicely, considering that the premiere opened with Garcia’s birthday party in the same location. As she opened the door, however, Dave Rossi saw Voit lingering in the hallway, which was the first clue that he will continue his reign of terror in the Paramount+ revival.

Since Voit was always one step ahead of the BAU throughout Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2, it wouldn’t be surprising if this was part of his plan to escape. Previously, the profilers got suspicious that he insisted on being transferred to the general population in prison when he thrives in isolation. Unfortunately, because of other matters, they weren’t able to spend time ruminating on this. Staging a fake attack could be the reason why Sicarius wanted to be with other inmates.

How Voit accomplished this will be the main mystery moving forward, but it’s yet again further proof that the BAU may have met their intellectual match. The fallout from this incident will be the launching pad for Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3’s storyline, which will continue to put Sicarius at the center of the series. Hopefully this time, however, they can finally put him away for good.
