The Outlander prequel series is set during the First World War and unveils the tragic yet passionate romance of Claire Fraser’s parents.

Warning – this article contains major spoilers for Outlander: Blood of My Blood

The fresh faces of Outlander have given fans a glimpse into the heart-wrenching love story of Claire Fraser’s (portrayed by Caitriona Balfe) parents.

Newbies Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine are taking on the roles of Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp in the eagerly awaited prequel series, Blood of My Blood.

Their romantic tale unfolds amidst the chaos of the First World War, while Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) come together in 18th century Scotland.

Recently, the duo joined the original cast, including Jamie Fraser star Sam Heughan, to give a sneak peek of the upcoming Starz spin-off during a thrilling panel marking World Outlander Day

In the course of the conversation, Corfield and Irvine hinted at some of the heartbreaking plot twists ahead.

“I have a question, why did you leave me?” Balfe asked her new Outlander kin.

Irvine disclosed that the pair will embark on a “romantic trip” to Scotland in the series after Claire’s birth.

“You were a f****** nightmare when you were a child, right?” the actor quipped. “We needed a break.”

He then awkwardly added: “We leave you… we go off on a holiday… good point.”

Balfe shot back: “Claire has abandonment issues and I want them sorted right now!”

To which Irvine responded: “We love Claire but after everything our characters had been through, we wanted to go on a holiday just us.”

New clips from the series have confirmed a significant portion of the drama will unfold on the WWI battlefields, suggesting Julia and Henry will be in need of a well-deserved rest post-conflict.

However, viewers shouldn’t anticipate this peace to endure.

Early in the original series, it’s revealed that Claire is largely unaware of her parents’ history due to their untimely death in a car accident when she was merely five years old.

Should Blood of My Blood extend over several seasons, it’s probable that the series finale will climax with this heartbreaking event, resulting in Julia and Henry’s daughter being brought up by her uncle.

Yet, given the frequent use of time travel in Outlander’s universe, might there be a possibility for a supernatural twist enabling them to survive in a different era?

Fans are eagerly awaiting further revelations.

In the meantime, the primary series still has one more season remaining to conclude Claire and Jamie’s extraordinary historical romance.
