Outlander enthusiasts are sharing their wildest theories about the show, and some are downright jaw-dropping. The inaugural season of the prequel Blood of My Blood is slated to premiere this summer, while the final season of Outlander has been filmed but lacks a release date.

To keep fans – many of whom have spotted ‘inconsistencies ahead of the final season’s release – engaged during the current ‘Droughtlander,’ the official Instagram page invited fans to share their most outlandish show theories, turning the comments section into a must-read spectacle.

The post read: “I’m bored. Comment your hottest Outlander take. I’m not talking about “Jamie is better than Frank”, I’m talking your unhinged theories, characters you hate to love, the craziest thing you’d do for Outlander.”

Fans who chose to discuss the most outrageous things they’d do for Outlander certainly did not disappoint.

One fan shared: “Craziest thing I’d do for outlander? WELL, seeing as how I moved to Scotland, opened a tour company because of Outlander, got married last week at JandC’s same location to a Scotsman.. yeah no I’m not unhinged at all.”

Another fan confessed: “I traveled to Scotland by myself to see the filming locations. That’s the craziest thing I have ever done for a TV show”, while another admitted: “I traveled halfway across the world all by myself to visit Scotland!”

One fan shared how the show led to new friendships: “Travelled to meet up and stay with friends I’d only ever known online-just so we could fangirl together at Outlander events! No regrets, just epic memories”.

Another enthusiast revealed a personal tribute to the series, stating: “I don’t consider it unhinged by my 2nd son is named James Alexander Malcolm.”

A different viewer was motivated to embrace a new language due to the show: “I started studying Scottish Gaelic after hearing the characters in the series speak it.”

Meanwhile, one devotee confessed to an extreme act of fandom: “I waited in line for 26 hours when Sam did his whisky tour this past February and I was first in line. Outlander has captivated audiences worldwide, with many fans journeying to Scotland to visit the filming locations firsthand, reports the Daily Record.

Recently, figures from the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions (ASVA) and Glasgow Caledonian University’s Moffat Centre indicated that the ‘Outlander effect’ significantly increased tourism, especially at sites featured in the show.

Notably, the Culloden Visitor Centre, a key location in Outlander, saw a 42.8 percent surge in visitors, attracting 374,443 people.

Other major attractions also experienced significant growth, with Stirling Castle seeing a 14.8 percent increase to 594,938 visitors, while St Giles’ Cathedral, which was featured in Avengers: Infinity War, Frankenstein and Fast and Furious 9, welcomed 1,742,147 people, marking an 18.3 percent increase.

In total, Scotland’s tourist attractions reported a 3.9 percent rise in footfall in 2023, bringing the total number of visitors to 49,708,483.

Paid attractions also saw an uptick, with a 2.4 percent increase pushing the visitor count to 17,849,139.
