Tiva fans, your ship is breaking the internet. NCIS: Tony & Ziva, in the week that the trailer for the upcoming Paramount+ series has been out, is breaking records for the franchise.
According to Deadline, across multiple platforms, the trailer for the Cote De Pablo and Michael Weatherly series has raked in a whopping 93 million and counting views. This includes 26.5 million across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, as well as 13 million on digital, including Paramount+, and the rest through broadcast. The trailer was the first in-depth look at the highly anticipated Paramount+ series that will follow NCIS characters Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David while they’re on the run with their young daughter Tali.
An Iconic TV Will-They-Won’t-They Got Their Own TV Show, Shippers Rejoice
In the 2000s, several “ships” seemed to dominate the will-they-won’t-they dynamic on police procedurals. Tony and Ziva, played by Weathely and De Pablo respectively, were one of them, along with Agent Seely Booth (David Boreanaz) and Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) from Bones, and Detectives Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The tension between Tony and Ziva on the flagship NCIS after De Pablo joined in Season 3 was obvious. As it would turn out, Ziva’s eventual death would be faked, and not only that — at some point after her exit, she and Tony had a daughter, Tali.
The pair would eventually reunite, and that brings us to the Paramount+ series. To have an entire series based on a relationship from a police procedural might not always work, but it’s clear from the numbers that dipping a little into fan service, balancing the romance of an iconic fictional couple, as well as the action of being on the run when their lives are inevitably put in danger, make fans excited and ready for the series to premiere on Paramount+ in the fall.
