Home and Away’s Ada Nicodemou has paid a sweet tribute to co-star Lynne McGranger after the soap legend filmed her final scenes.
McGranger, who has played Irene Roberts on the Australian soap since 1993, announced last month that she would be departing the show after 33 years in the role, with the character’s on-screen exit set to air later this year.
The actor confirmed yesterday (March 26) that she had filmed her final scenes on the soap, and now Nicodemou – who plays Leah Patterson – has paid tribute to her departing co-star, sharing that she “missed” McGranger already.
“@lynnemcgranger Home and Away just won’t be the same for me now that you’ve gone ❤️” wrote Nicodemou on Instagram, who also shared three behind-the-scenes photos. “Thank you for being the best room buddy and for always buying me coffee 😂 I love you and miss you already xx”
“Right back at you honey,” replied McGranger in the comment section. “Oh my – the laughs and tears we’ve shared, the amount of times you’ve found me in my undies 😁😁😁. Love you so much and will miss you terribly- but we’ll be friends and eating/drinking buddies for ever.”
The post also received a warm response from fans, with one viewer writing: “Beautiful pictures ada, it’s hard to believe lynne is leaving obviously she has filmed her final scenes. Beautiful actress and will be very much missed in the bay.❤️”
“The most beautiful friendship ❤️ your blessed to have each other. Will miss seeing Irene and Leah together on screens 😢” added a second fan, with a third also sharing their emotion as they commented: “Lovely photos. So sad to see Irene (Lynne) leave. We wish her All the best 💖”
In the statement announcing her departure, McGranger said that she considered her colleagues as a second “family” and that Irene was her “dream role”, adding that she was “bittersweet” after “closing the chapter on what has been the best and longest gig of my life.”
