Outlander viewers have been left scratching their heads over the arrival of the Pocock sisters
Ahead of its eighth and final season, Outlander enthusiasts may have stumbled upon the solution to one of the show’s most intriguing mysteries.
The hit Starz series centres around time-travelling Claire (portrayed by Caitriona Balfe), who finds herself transported to 18th Century Scotland after encountering a set of mystical stones.
She soon crosses paths with and falls for Highlander soldier Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). After enduring separations through time and historical upheaval, the couple has now made their home in North Carolina.
In recent seasons, the Fraser family has grappled with the American Revolution, with Jamie fighting for independence and Claire utilising her healing abilities during the Battle of Monmouth.
However, the unexpected arrival of the Pocock sisters, Jane (Silvia Presente) and Fanny (Florrie Wilkinson), who are believed to be the daughters of Claire and Jamie’s late daughter,
Faith, has thrown their world into disarray, reports the Daily Record.
This revelation is arguably the most shocking twist yet, as it suggests that Faith, who was stillborn in the second season, somehow survived her traumatic birth in France.
Fans were left in suspense, pondering how this could be possible. However, a pivotal moment from Diana Gabaldon’s original book series might hold the key.
A recent article penned by a devoted Outlander fan on Screen Rant highlights a peculiar, possibly supernatural, instance where Claire revives another stillborn baby, which could provide some much-needed answers.
For those keen to delve into the details themselves, this revelation doesn’t occur until the ninth and latest book in the popular series, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.
“Claire actually did bring a stillborn baby back using her powers,” they penned.
“This event took place after she and Jamie returned to Fraser’s Ridge with Fanny, where Claire delivered twin babies.
“One of the infants didn’t survive, but Claire cradled the lifeless body, recalling the agonising pain of losing Faith.
“As she did this (and Jamie wrapped his arms around his wife and the baby), Claire began to sense a park of life within the child. She then drew from her love for Jamie and their physical connection to strengthen the baby’s life force.”
Should this miraculous event transpire in the eighth season, it could lead Claire to realise that her healing abilities far surpass her comprehension and might shed light on how Faith survived.
However, several enigmas remain unresolved, chiefly what became of Faith after her supposed baptism and burial.
We’re also left wondering who fathered Jane and Fanny with Faith, and whether Claire and Jamie’s daughter is alive or deceased.
With only one season remaining before Outlander concludes, fans will have to bide their time to see if these mysteries are unravelled.
Fortunately, the franchise isn’t grinding to a halt. The forthcoming spin-off series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, is set to narrate the story of Claire and Jamie’s parents this summer.
Outlander is available to watch on MGM+ via Prime Video.
