The international hit US police procedural has finally made its way to Netflix for American subscribers.
NCIS, the unforgettable crime drama and third-longest running scripted American primetime series still airing, has now landed on Netflix.
NCIS has been a big hit for CBS since it first debuted back in 2003 with Agent Leroy Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon) leading a team of special agents that deal with high profile crimes that are linked to the US Navy and Marine Corps.
The Freaky Friday actor Harmon was initially joined by Michael Weatherly as Tony DiNozzo, Pauley Perrette as Abby Sciuto and David McCallum as Donald “Ducky” Mallard, with fan-favourites Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) introduced later on.
And while most of the cast has changed over the years, NCIS remains a major hit with some fans labelling it as the “world’s most watched show”.
Now, the CBS drama will be available to watch on Netflix with the first five seasons of NCIS dropping on the streamer on Thursday, January 23.
So fans can relive the early glory days or experience the magic of NCIS for the first time from the very beginning on NCIS US.
There has been no word so far though if any of the later seasons of the crime drama are going to be added to the streamer anytime soon.
Twenty-two years later and NCIS is still thriving with the latest series on the way, as well as a number of spin-offs, including NCIS Origins, a prequel which delves into Gibbs’ career back in the 1990s.
NCIS Sydney, the first internationally set spin-off, will be returning to CBS next month, Friday, February 7, for season two.
Meanwhile, NCIS Tony and Ziva, a Paramount+ series that will focus on what the former agents got up to as they started their new lives in Paris, is expected to come out later this year.
There have been some casualties along the way, however, with NCIS New Orleans cancelled after seven seasons, NCIS Los Angeles after 14 and NCIS Hawaii after just three series.
