NCIS watchers are thrilled that the popular drama will be available to stream on Netflix from January 23, with seasons one through five available after fans requested its return
Netflix has shared an exciting announcement for NCIS fans as the first 11 seasons of the crime drama will drop on the streaming platform on January 23, with seasons 1 through 5 set to join them soon.
TV enthusiasts have geared up for a marathon of the hit series, with Netflix letting viewers binge seasons 12 through 17 as well, although seasons 6 and 11 are conspicuously absent.
NCIS has been a launchpad for stars like Mark Harmon, who portrayed Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs for nineteen series, alongside Michael Weatherly as Anthony DiNozzo, Pauley Perrette’s Abby Sciuto, and David McCallum’s Donald Mallard.
Fans were crushed when it was initially reported that seasons one through eleven might be pulled from Netflix, prompting passionate reactions on social media platforms like Reddit. One user argued: “I am very angry they took off the first 11 seasons. Myself and a lot of friends love to go back and watch the earlier seasons when Ziva was still there.” Echoing the sentiment, another added: “And now Netflix lost my vote. I stopped watching NCIS after Tony left, and I’ve marathoned those s1-11 several times.”
A third questioned the marketing strategy: “I don’t understand why they are removing them I am only on season 8, and don’t want to have to subscribe to another streaming service for one show.”
Another agreed, saying, “I don’t get the idea behind removing seasons and leaving later seasons on. It makes no sense. Except from a financial point of course.”
This follows the announcement of a significant change to the season two premiere of NCIS: Sydney. The new release date has been set for Friday, February 7, at 8 p.m. EST.
Fans were also recently introduced to a spinoff of the drama series NCIS: Origins. Austin Stowell and Kyle Schmid were cast as the younger versions of Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Mike Franks on the pin-off, which airs every Monday at 10 p.m.
Retired Hammon has returned to the screen to make guest appearances on the series and also serves as an executive producer.
