Home and Away spoilers follow for UK viewers.
Home and Away’s Alf Stewart will confront doctor Bree Cameron on UK screens next week, after he returns to Summer Bay following his near-death experience.
Late last year, Alf started to experience terrifying chest pains and was rushed to hospital, where Bree was tasked with administering life-saving treatment to Alf.
But as Bree was struggling with a need to compulsively check things at work, following Felicity Newman’s sudden death, she left Alf’s side at a critical moment and forced her colleagues to step in to save him.
Although Alf woke up and has been recovering away from the Bay since, Bree has continued to battle with what happened and has faced fury from many of Alf’s loved ones, especially Marilyn Chambers.
In scenes that will air on Channel 5 in the UK early next week, Alf makes an unexpected return from Merimbula, where he has been recuperating.
Although Marilyn is overjoyed to see him, she soon spots that her friend is very quiet and isn’t acting like himself. Alf insists that he’s just feeling tired, but Marilyn can’t shake her concerns that something is wrong.
When Marilyn later catches Alf in a lonely moment at home, she confronts him, wanting to know whether he’s truly okay. Deciding to be honest with Marilyn, Alf admits that he just isn’t sure whether he’s doing alright or not.
Marilyn soon gives Alf a full rundown on what’s happened while he’s been in Merimbula, revealing that Bree faced a tribunal at work due to her actions while she was treating Alf.
Shocked Alf decides to speak to Bree himself. Heading out to see the doctor, he asks her to explain exactly what happened at the hospital on that dramatic day.
As they chat, Bree admits that she failed in her duty of care and she apologises to Alf for leaving the room when she was meant to be treating him.
But caring Alf is more concerned with how Bree is feeling now. When she admits that she’s been having trouble tuning out her darker thoughts, Alf assures her that he understands how she feels and they leave their conversation on good terms.
But there’s another setback for Bree later when she hears Xander Delaney updating her boyfriend Remi Carter on the state of her mental health.
Upset Bree starts to question how many other people her boyfriend might have recruited to spy on her.
Will this drive yet another wedge between Bree and Remi after everything they’ve been through? And will Alf be okay as he continues to recover from his major health scare?
Home and Away airs these scenes on Monday, January 27 and Tuesday, January 28 at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
