With the program being such a success, many fans are beginning to speculate if NCIS: Origins will get a Season 2
It looks like NCIS: Origins will be back for a second season.
So far, NCIS: Origins has been a mega-hit with NCIS fans. The prequel series adds some context to Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ character. It delves into the life of young Leroy at the beginning of his career, which started with the Naval Investigative Service (NIS) before he joined what fans know as today’s NCIS team.
Amid all of the crime dramas fighting for the number one spot, NCIS: Origins is steadily climbing Paramount+’s Top 10 charts.
With the program being such a success, many fans are beginning to speculate if NCIS: Origins will get a Season 2. Showrunner David J. North revealed during an interview with TVLine the potentiality of NCIS: Origins returning. While there hasn’t been a confirmation from CBS or Paramount+ as of now, David teased that the networks might be beh ind the series.
“We’re really proud of what we’re making, and the goal is always, obviously, to get as many eyes on it as possible. I know that we’re doing well on Paramount+; after we air, the following day we’re always in the Top 10,” David told the news outlet. “I do know that CBS and Paramount are in it for the long haul, so we just try to keep our heads down and write as good of material as possible. And this cast, they’re fantastic, they really are. I think we have something special here, and I hope everybody comes on board.”
NCIS: Origins might stand toe-to-toe with other crime dramas, but the real competition resides within the NCIS universe. The decades-long franchise has a few fan-favorite spinoffs such as NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: Hawaii along with the original NCIS, which has been going strong since 2003.
What’s working in NCIS: Origins favor is that it’s a prequel, so it provides a backstory for some of the franchise’s iconic characters, giving the program a unique edge. This is why NCIS: Origins has managed to find its way to Paramount+’s Top 10.
NCIS: Origins being in the top ten is an indicator to showrunners as well as the show’s cast members that the storylines are connecting with viewers. Although a second season isn’t officially guaranteed, if the ratings continue to be high it might be.
