CBS divulged in October that “Blue Bayou” would allow fans to enjoy the holidays with Leroy as he experiences his first Christmas without his wife and daughter, Collider reported.

The TV station also noted that the flashbacks in the December 25 show would unveil an “unlikely journey” that Leroy went through to get on the NIS team.

As well as dig into his connection with NIS’ team leader Mike. Soon time views will get the full scope of Leroy’s beginning career movies as opposed to just hints being dropped. Fans have to wait for the episode to see which case or cases Leroy will be taking on. However, what is known now is that the character of former Marine Lala Dominguez (Mariel Molina) is involved, therefore a team-up can be expected.

NCIS: Origins already teased Lala’s significance as showrunner David J. North (Scorpion) revealed to TV Line that the prequel series “is largely about Lala.” Meaning, that the holiday episode could give some more insight into her character and highlight what her fate is. Although NCIS: Origins is doing a Christmas episode, it won’t occur actually on the holiday, but instead its air date is scheduled for December 16.

The holidays won’t prevent the series from continuing as the 18-episode debut season will move forward through January.

During an interview with TV Insider, Austin spoke about the Christmas episode and how it helped shape the season-long relationship between Leroy and Mike.

“[It’s] going to be a really cool snapshot that unveils a lot of the how and why of what transpires that convinces Franks to take Gibbs into his life and give him a second shot,” he told the news outlet. “And I think that moment in their relationship is so important because without it, there would be no future for anything. And so this is such a pivotal episode because it explains the catalyst of what gives us the future of Franks and Gibbs.”
