NCIS has gained a lot of fans over the years, with viewers developing strong feelings about their favorite spinoffs and some aren’t happy with NCIS: Origins returning
NCIS fans have taken aim at the showrunners after they made the decision to cancel NCIS: Hawaii while keeping the spinoff show NCIS: Origins.

NCIS: Hawaii was canceled earlier this year after three seasons. CBS executives said they made the “tough decision” after evaluating “the financials and the performance overall.” Following the cancelation, it was announced NCIS: Origins has received a full season order at CBS.

Viewers aren’t happy and many believe NCIS: Hawaii should have been saved instead. Taking to X to share their thoughts, one person posted, “Watching @NCISOrigins. It’s alright. Might grow on me more. Missing @NCISHawaiiCBS and think this was not a good trade, tho.”

Another agreed, “I’m sorry but I just can’t get into NCIS Origins. CBS screwed up big time by canceling NCIS Hawaii.” Someone else said, “Catching up on my DVR now. Man, @CBSNews really screwed the pooch. NCIS Hawaii was a great show. Their new CSI Origins is terrible.”

“So I’ve watched a few episodes of #NCISOrigins and it’s ok lol its not like groundbreaking or anything like that this could’ve of just been like a miniseries or sumn on paramount + #NCISHawaii should have remained in play,” a fourth fan shared.

Not everyone was so critical of NCIS: Origins, however. “I tried to watch the Hawaii show but it didn’t appeal to me at all. I prefer the more cable style show like #NCISOrigins where the characters all have interesting background storylines and emotional moments. Each episode is very well written/acted. So I hope it will get S2,” one viewer said.

Another commented, “I didn’t think it would be good but I admit I was wrong. NCIS Origins is awesome! Wish they would have gotten rid of Hawaii though. Really liked that one also!”

A third person then urged people to stop comparing the two shows. “For the love of God, pls Hawaii fans stop bashing #ncisorigins it’s not origins fault tht #ncishawaii got cancelled.

We get it. You love tht show. But move on already! All this origins hate, tht it’s numbers aren’t good, we won’t watch it, is getting annoying. No one is asking u to,” they wrote.

NCIS: Origins has been given a full season order at CBS alongside the comedy Poppa’s House, according to Variety. Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, told the publication: “These shows fit seamlessly into our Monday night lineup while resonating with viewers on CBS and Paramount+.”
